sarwat rumi is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Traditional Chinese Medicine herbalist, and NCCAOM Diplomate in Oriental Medicine.   She has been caring for people professionally since 2000, beginning in the field of social services, expanding into alternative education, and embarking into the world of medical care in 2011.  sarwat's rigorous, 3000+ hours of training at the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine included acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, medical massage, and clinical rotations at the Canandaigua VA, and four Health Centers in Western and Central NY. She received her Doctorate in Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Health and Science in 2020.

Prior to her medical studies, sarwat spent 11 years providing direct services to a wide range of people, including survivors of violence, immigrant, trafficked, and refugee communities, homeless and underserved urban teens, and women and girls of all ages.  During graduate school, sarwat had the opportunity to work with our military veterans at the Canandaigua VA.  

 

 

sarwat found herself drawn to East Asian medicine because of its holistic approach, treating the mind, physical body, and emotional state as completely interconnected aspects of our existence.  Her firsthand experience with the effectiveness of this ancient medicine drove her to learn it herself, in the hopes of sharing it with others.

The two words most used by patients, coworkers, and clinical supervisors to describe sarwat are gentle and thorough.  She is committed to spending time with her patients to understand the complete, complex patterns of their complaints.  sarwat further engages her patients in their own healing process by recommending lifestyle shifts and qi gong exercises to achieve their wellness goals, and ultimately minimize the frequency of appointments.
